One problem that is a little more likely to pop up I would imagine would be an elderly person on low income living there kinda check to check, and if something goes wrong with their physical/mental health and/or their pension or S.S. checks or whathaveyou, it is harder to kick them out if necessary.

There is actually raw sewage running out near the end of the driveway and road area and I understand the Board of Health has already cited the uncooperative homeowner at least once.

But there were damages because of a dog & he left us a $525 water bill & the lease was specific about 60 days written notice.I approached her to track him down for payment but he had moved in with another woman (2 miles from our home) & was working off the books to avoid child support & their health care payments.

HELOCS typically have a very fast, aggressive payoff schedule once the draw period is over, and you don't know what position you will be in (health, finances, etc).  

And who wants to chunk money into a 401k for 40 years so that you can be a millionaire upon retirement only to find out that you're old and your health is bad due to the stress of that j.o.b.
