I'm new to this as a business but "accidentally" wound up with some experience as both a landlord and rehabbing a property, thanks to the combination of the real estate crash last decade, and our tight finances forcing us to purchase a "fixer-upper" when our family grew.When my wife and I first got married, we bought a small "starter home" in a quiet neighborhood, pretty much at the peak of the real estate market for our area.

Of course time heals all wounds so as long as values and rents continue to climb even a bad investment can work out in this climate as long as you have the holding power...Oh and to Ali's post if you have a good 100k-150k house in a good bread and butter 100k-150k neighborhood and are having trouble finding quality tenants I'd suggest taking a closer look at who you have managing your portfolio.

There should have also been disclosures stating that this investment was highly illiquid and it was unlikely you would be able to get out until the deal completely wound down.Unless there's something more complex going on, you are certainly not entitled to 24% of the value of the property.
