I like Halifax, but I have the impression that prices are a bit high based on the cash flow potential.I’ve been reading everything I can find on BP related to investing in the Maritimes and saw some reference to how some investors “from away” have been buying properties and not doing so well, is that because of vacancies?

It's all about the first impression.

He was showing me the properties he bought there (all SFH) and many were nice (one that stood out was a brick house he paid around 40K for; I forget the monthly rent but I remember being impressed).

Don't know if we just saw the better areas when we were exploring, but was pretty impressed.

My ultimate goal is to buy and hold rental units and continue to increase my portfolio over time resulting in an impressive real estate empire i can pass down to my children.
