You normally can get a limited amount of information on the LA Treasurer and Tax Collector's site, but right now they claim to be down until July 21, 2014 due to fiscal year end or something.

Where I live in Illinois, our former county treasurer was sent to prison for his role in fixing the auctions.What's really interesting is how the interest rates change over time.
