If you have a hydronic boiler (not steam) and all of your heating elements in each room are close I'd consider doing a propane combination water heater. 2 reasons: #1 then you can separate your heat and hot water for each unit.

It still has a steam boiler, heating radiators, no upgrades to kitchen and bathrooms.
