Old school and in your face but competent. 

My nephew and a niece are going to school there now.

I view my primary as my long-term home, 3 young kids with a good school system, so this is where we are settled.

My parents live in the Katy neighborhood.It is very safe and from what I understand, has a good school system.A lot of the homes are 'newer builds' since it is still a relatively new neighborhood.You are also in downtown houston in about 30 minutes during non-rush hour times using the I-10 highway.I don't think you can get the 1% rule anymore in the area but close to it.Since the homes are newerish, hopefully the property won't have too much renovation / repair costs.Best of luck

She is about to head out as the school year is almost over.She doesn't provide any supplies usually.

I’d love to get schooled on this a bit if I’m totally outta my mind with this plan, but if there aren’t a bunch of tax or legal roadblocks, I’m thinking it can work.

I've also kept an Indianapolis suburban home in a great area with highly ranked schools  - my property taxes have gone up significantly but I'm still about $110 CF. 

The suburbs do well with appreciation and being in high demand because of good schools. 

Fundamentally, you want access to industry & schools.

While I finish school I want to work, at some level, for a brokerage and continue to build the savings and connections needed to start investing in my own properties / making a career in real estate.
