Every time you do that, you loose money. 

I recommend looking into enzyme cleaners as well, as they are also effective in removing odors.

In the units that I am renovating, I am considering removing the intercom / buzzer in these renovated apartments for a few reasons.

Ask the two brothers to remove his belongings and put them in storage or something.
