Homes that look like they cashflow may often have knob and tube wiring, lead paint, octopus furnaces lined with crumbling asbestos, unstable stone foundations, plaster and lath walls, roofs with triple layers of shingles requiring tear-off - all requiring expensive renovations.

In order........Make sure the numbers work.Call the listing agent yourself .....let them know you are out of state and you want to know "If I was standing in front of the property, or even just walking though the inside what are some obvious things I would see with the naked eye.....missing shingles on the roof, paint pealing in the back.....holes in the wall, is the property across the street from a graveyard or liquor store, etc."
