Over the years, most such house guests have admired the property: the ocean view, the woodsy acreage, the peacefulness, the proximity to the subway and thus easy access to The City and also the airport, etc., easy access to beaches, and the property's house potential in a neighborhood with potential.

I admire that you did it and soon or later I will get to that point owning a property in a different state.I will keep the STR options on my mind and keep a close eye on the opportunities here in LA and I'm sure that it will all come into place in the next 2 months before I make a decision and commit to either strategy.  

@Aja Devaney An admirable business plan that could work, but remember to factor in the sellers looking to sell their properties and take a loss during this market might be the same properties with poor performing tenants.
