I am about to break ground on the remodel of my home and am building an ADU over my garage for the same property.My question is....is it worth spending the money to separate the utilities or just have one water, electric and gas meter?

He concludes the landlord uses 90% of the cooking gas at yet charges him 50%. 

In my area, you would need plumbing permits for relocating water and gas lines for island, sink and DW.. also you'd need a general permit to move the wall.What type of flooring do you want?

I'd like to pop the top and expand the footprint of the studio and possibly add a 2nd bathroom in order to convert it into a 2bed/2bath with long term goal of selling it as a townhouse (all 3 units are already individually deeded, individually metered with gas and electric, have their own furnaces and water heaters, etc.).

Most tenants around here do pay for their own electric and gas.   

In regard to utilities, It is very common to have the tenants pay for Electric and Gas while the landlord pay for water Trash etc. 

I think this has changed for gas since Jan 2017, but I'm not 100% certain.

I purchased a home about 6 months ago, and I split the gas lines and added a second boiler.

Does the site have access to electrical power, natural gas, town water or sewer?
