We would not have been able to relax (retire sounds so final) early without our housing and utility costs being completely covered as they are. 

I purchased them with the idea of having retirement income in about 9 years. 

It depends on what part of your life you are in.Are you still aggressive when it comes to increasing your passive income to help fund your lifestyle / retirement?

I file jointly and we are able to put enough of our income into a retirement plan that we can be below 89,000 in income (including rental income).

Once you figure that out, definitely check with a tax professional who understands self-directed retirement accounts.  

We have an S-Corp that manages both LLCs, so I can take payroll and contribute to retirement accounts. 

And like most things real estate is location location location.. and our little community of 90 homes borders a year round river ( the Mollala) to the South the finnest retirement community basically in Oregon called Hope Village to the north.

Hey BP Family, I know many of you have pursued new construction in Cape Coral through Rent to Retirement.

It is a fine city, but how it made the top 24 of all places to retire in the US I am not sure.
