I looked into them on this forum and they seem much move favorable (higher returns in the low teens, relatively hands off even if they turn NPN).

If you're netting ~$300/mo on ~$25K equity, your return is somewhere in the mid-teens. 

That 16.6% could easily turn into low teens.  

However, if you're a late teens to mid 50s couple -- peak traveling ages mind you -- and there is a small % you may conceive, even if unplanned, then many should and/or would think twice going tropical. 

Of course, these aren't as sexy as the NY time article ;)
