The real numbers are more complicated because while we count mortgage payments, the reality is some of that is for interest and the rest is against the principal, so really some is going to you in the long run, but is currently tied up as an expense.

I have always said when people look to invest they typically look at returns first, market second, the team third, when in reality it is the team that can make or break a deal, market second and the returns last.

I have been investing in Toledo, OH since 2009 and owned 2-12 unit buildings and find they are way too hyped (read lots of guys from BP want to pay too much for them) and the reality is residents in Toledo are ultimately seeking a house with a yard and a garage so as soon as a resident improves their financial situation they move into a house.
