Not sure, but there may be an exception to that if you are making the home your primary residence - but maybe not even then.

A drug conviction can’t be denied unless it’s selling because using can be an addiction and that can be seen as an illness which is protected.

You can also be an active agent in one state and refer business to an agent in a different state and collect a fee that way too. 

Quick math is that if you pay the guru's fee, then put in the work for a few months, you have about 520 hours into the process with $7,500 return, minus overhead, which turns out to be making minimum wage and you have enough left over to take your guru to coffee, but not much more.

This sounds like a pre-existing defect so you will have to review your insurance policy but I am guessing there will be an exclusion.
