Was about to go to closing,  the mortgage company told me they couldn't get an under writer to close on it because they didn't believe I was willing to rent my current home out and move into One of the rentals.

Hagerman is a fairly prestigious place to retire, & could easily turn more so, with the years, which would give appreciation of any lots in Hagerman, including ones with trailers on them. ()A writer-friend of Ernst Hemingway lived near Hagerman, as an hide-away, where he did his writing.

It looks like the actual lenders I've been talking to at first saying that it will be no problem to get the loan considering my status, then after the application process is done, they are coming back with a negative answer from the under writer of the bank.

I like your early ideas, John...One thing struck me reading a new book by one of my fave real estate writers, Jay P Decima....he noted it was not money but education (that is, practical real estate investing education) that was the biggest obstacle to getting started.

Ms Smith, if I might add my $0.02 to the other great posts here, it would be this:A very fine writer named Joseph Campbell once summed up succeeding in life as "Follow your bliss."

Write really low offers, pull comps, tell me what to fix, put me into your best deals, teach me the market conditions... don't worry you will get paid 3% commission when/if I find a deal enough to make 15-20% profit.

They are preapproved to buy again, but under writers want them to wait a minimum amount of time from the signing of the Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure.
