There are some avenues that you could use, like no tax deduction piece work job (still you need to pay taxes and wc).LOL, no, here are my WC rates, carpenter 50%, plumber/electrician < 10%, painter/drywall 20%, roofer 100%, plus/minus 3% on all of them and then a premium deposit of more or less $10,000/year, I have a self-performing sub (only works by himself + 2 guys) and said he is paying about $4,000 for a $40,000 gross payroll.

Not to say people can't upgrade, but my first thought was, my roofer is pitching syndication deals and to top off his bad luck the bellman at a hotel I was checking in also hit me up the same month when he found out I was an investor.

I don't think it is a good idea any more than you should also get your insurance broker's license, your title insurance license, your contractors license, roofer's license, and while you're at it HVAC certification, Electrical and Plumbing Master licenses.Some people do both, but I think for the majority of people there is enough to keep up with on either business that if you try to do both you do neither the justice it deserves.
