I had a situation where I wired money to a contractor and he had IRS confiscate my down payment. he was unable to make good and I was stuck with paying twice to get my repairs done.

Worst case would be that this is a cop, and you lose your property, as it is confiscated by law enforcement in a sting operation!

They spent hours going through the unit and confiscated the oven which I thought was strange.

As a result of this, the city has been taking a more proactive approach on being more aggressive in confiscating and auctioning off these tax delinquent properties.

You never know the legal mess of or credit hit if the IRS decided to foreclose/confiscate the properties to get their money. 

That's a lot to lose when one sign is stolen or confiscated.

If you ignore it, allowing, condoning or abetting they can confiscate. 

State policy seemed to celebrate wealth creation, rather than confiscate it.

MN Landlord handbook says we could have property confiscated if same tenants are found with over $1000 worth of drugs a second time-the ex girlfriend who moved out wants to move back in-can we write a new lease with just her that would eliminate this risk or are we better off to move on to new tenants?
