There is a special way to report it to get the deduction while not triggering a computerized notice from the IRS disallowing the deduction.

New siding shingles can be purchased that are made of non-asbestos material to replace any original ones that are damaged and they are easy to paint - we do that for cosmetic purposes but we don't replace or encapsulate the entire house.That said, I would talk to your Realtor to determine if there are any Michigan-specific rules/regs regarding asbestos siding.

My advice is to go work for a PM company or two, get some experience, invest on your own, then hang out your shingle after you learn the industry a bit.

You have lower labor costs for repairs as contractors are not concerned about falling off and a lower pitch means less area which equates to fewer shingles and material costs.

No...different house....the more expensive one is different quality...all brick, different finishes, different appliances, different lot size, 30 year shingle vs 20 year shingle and so many other details.Dallas vs Collin County....two very very different places......take places like Frisco for example where most homes have been built in the last 20 years vs Dallas where very few homes have been built in the last 20 years.
