The temperature differential in the winter is such that cold nail shanks (because the metal of the nail is considered a good conductor of temperature) inside the attic are colder than the poorly ventilated attic space, so the moisture in the attic air condenses on the tips of the nail shanks.

It is also pretty standard for blinds to be provided with rentals here and I'd rather take the chance tenants break cheap blinds than start nailing and screwing their own stuff in.
