No bank account is typically a tall tale sign of credit/child support/ or financial  issues.If your rule of thumb is 3x the rent as income then there should be a bank account to support this. 

If seller was an only child and there was a will and estate creditors were properly notified, than this should be easy.If seller has siblings, there was no will and/or there was no estate administration done....run away from this as fast as you can.Stove

Not only will you lose everything (including all of your real estate holdings) in divorce court, you will be responsible for alimony and child support for a very long time.
