Investing in vacation rentals from afar

Just go on VRBO/ AirBnB and contact them through their listing (also a great way to get some great info about the area, complex, home owners association, etc...).My only challenge for investing from afar is that I'm normally a very hands on type of person, so giving up some control to a PM wasn't the easiest thing for me to do, but it has all worked out very well.We visit our VR at least once a year.

This way I don't have to worry about blocking out time to remodel a place or pay top dollar for one that's already renovated. To be fair, it doesn't seem worth it to invest in a VR in Maui unless you're willing to put down a lot of cash or be able to self manage.

These houses are not VR's, they are places to stay for refinery contractors doing short term jobs.My logic is that the more people I can put into a place the longer it will be rented out. 1 or 2 guys might be transferred to a Texas or Louisiana refinery, the other guys stay in the house and find new room mates.
