I get good rents for reasonable purchase prices from people that are looking for some place to put down roots by planting gardens, having a few animals or chickens and stay for much longer terms than average for in town homes.

In simple business terms, it depends on opportunity cost.I think that the universal "apples to apples" comparison is rooted in CAP rate (see other discussions for more explanation of CAP rate, or PM me and I'll vector you in to one).

The plumber just did a lot of work and said he thinks I'll need to replace the sewer line out to the street soon because of root damage.I figured that was a possibility before I bought the house, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
