I'm looking to compile a checklist of sorts for myself to better facilitate the process (until I meet more private lenders and break up w/these HML's!).

If so, should I just start compiling a buyers list, and driving around scouting out properties, putting up bandit signs, sending letters, making calls, etc.?

As time went by (1978), commercial list compilers began selling this info, initially as daily or semi-weekly paper lists by subscription, then online via a BBS system, then competing providers and now, most of CA defaults can be accessed via ForeclosureRadar.com for a low monthly price.
