You might also be able to just cut out the high spots, and overlay the whole area with 1/4" plywood If you are going to throw down carpet again.On the plus side, this kind of issue really scares most buyers (and sellers), so you can use this to your advantage.

I rarely use the actual stakes as I tend to put them on concrete or inside, but they attract a lot of ants and unlike the Terro liquid that goes on cardboard, it doesn't dry out nearly as quickly as the stake stations (I also add liquid Terro to the tops and four corners of the stake stations to attract more ants).The plastic bait stations are also decent but if they're on even a slight decline they empty out all over the ground.
