Would I have to go back give each building a purchase value and part of the depreciation based upon the package and then pay the taxes on that one or would I have to pay capital gains on all of the depreciation I've accumulated for all three? 

IE: House Hacking - 1) Identify a 2-4 unit property I can live in and rent the other units such that net rents cover most of or exceed the mortgage payment, goal: live rent cheap-or-free; 2) Secure long-term fixed rate mortgage/debt; 3) Hold and live in the property as I focus on honing my property management systems/skills and accumulate of capital for the next deal.Step 2: Call financial institutions (local banks, I'd start with Happy State. credit unions, Frost, etc) and figure out financing options for your chosen strategies.

PMs are a cushy preservation stage move, not for accumulation stage where cf matters. 

Period.OOS 'passive' rental ownership should be more of a wealth preservation strategy rather than accumulation needing cash-flow strategy. 

I want to BRRRR a property to start accumulating equity and CF while I’m young (23).

However, I do have a great job in San Diego and am not necessarily counting on the cash flow for income (playing the long game with equity accumulation), although it certainly would be nice.

So it would be like paying down debt by accumulating worse debt
