Don't just wait for them to "investigate it," make sure they have a demand letter from your attorney requiring immediate settlement.

I receive monthly payments from a personal injury settlement, but because this does not count as income, I don’t believe I can get approved for a regular home loan program even though I have an excellent credit score and some cash for a down payment.

Do I need an agent or will the settlement company be able to walk me through it?

The Magistrate wrote up a trial settlement that required tenants to pay December rent by 3pm yesterday to which they said “We dont have the money” and my atty said “You wanted to pay December rent where is that money?”
