A lesson to remember,  under the newer VA rules the cap (eligibility remaining) really only kicks in if you want a second property. 

The post made June 3rd, which I apparently didn't see or it didn't register, stated that Core Capital was a scam and to stay away. 8 properties at $600 a shot is going to be a tough lesson for us, but thanks for the information folks.

When furnishing my first STR, I leaned towards cheaper goods as I had just spent a ton of money on the acquisition, and learned my lesson quickly.

It was a hard lesson that nearly cost us a $25,000 deal, countless hours of effort, and more sleepless nights than I’d care to admit.We had a prime deal lined up, with a buyer who was eager to move forward.

If you claim these capital expenses as maintenance/repair it looks as if you are making LESS on the property.
