They usually come pre-charged so all you have to do is wire&wrench the inside and outside unit together and release the charge and also run a circuit to the condenser.

Now I'm not an expert, but the scope of work seems to be something like the following:A-CoilCondensers + concrete pads + copper lines220 electrical ran to said condensers + breakers (my panel does have room in it)Charge system with coolant (needs to be done by licensed professional, understood)Run wire for thermostats (no new thermostats needed - have been upgraded and are compatible)I'm getting quotes upwards of $6k.

I would call the A/C company and ask what they meant when the technician said needs replaced If they meant the condenser I would send the $1700 to the buyer after they sign a hold harmless type of contract.

Here are the needed and OPTIONAL repairs as well as their estimated prices:-OPTIONAL Roof needs to be replaced in maybe 10 or so years, it has moss on it now but I can just clean that off for now, so I would say optional for the near term. 10-15K-OPTIONAL: Two of the windows in the living room are failing and need to be replaced if I want people to be able to see through them (condensation stains on the inside of the panes).
