Surely the carrying costs have to be astronomical.

However, I can't imagine a scenario where entry to a house would be given will nilly to any interested buyer; the liability for acts of vandalism and theft would be astronomical.

And so if someone can find a nice home in a new neighborhood which has all been finished, like the grass is put in, the blinds are in, the appliances are in...they don't mind forking out another 50 to 100k or something astronomical for expenses that to you were minimal.

I do agree with you that prices here are ASTRONOMICAL!

Both are good enough towns; no real housing booms, but not astronomical either. 

Flood insurance there can get astronomical, so you don't want that expense sneaking up on you.
