I know some people are just miserable all the time, but maybe if you assured him that you’d do your best to get good tenants and possibly give him your number in case of any problems, he may have lightened up a bit.

This is a cross-post from another HH thread in the Investor Diary sub-forum but wanted to share.I did a budget DYI house hack a couple years ago that was both a miserable failure yet still a win all the same.

My concern with your idea lies in the fact that Cleveland winters are pretty miserable by the lake.

The most miserable 5 years in my life.

I was raised to not to be confined to the stereotypical "womens" jobs; my mother was made quite miserable by her off-the-boat immigrant father who was constantly telling her she couldn't do things because they weren't ladylike, including going to college, which she did There.

So I feel sorry for you and @John Thedford because your lives must be really miserable and empty if you spend all your time trolling BP to harass other people who are just trying to learn and ask questions.

I will do whatever I can to make their life miserable and to prevent them from getting another rental.

Take the money, stay home and avoid illness, pay off debt with the money, use the free time to rescue, adopt, bind with, and train a puppy, go back to school to become a paramedic, and not be miserable everyday. 

FAR MORE people fail miserably with this than those finding success.

If they're not than yeah you'll be miserable with guest issues.
