the bank was keeping you abreast to the status of the loan at all times. it appears that they were following the regulations set forth by the govt (i believe its reg z). it's quite unfortunate, but i've seen many loans that appear to be great fall through at the last minute for one thing or another....

For instance some P&Z Depts. consider themselves a "one stop shop" and they have a nice neat little packet that explains the entire process to you.
