For once it was the insurance company sending me money rather than the other way around.I had recently upgraded the HVAC on one of my houses and since the risk of it failing was reduced, my premium was reduced.Just a reminder that should you do some major work on a house you own that you might be due some discounts from your insurance carrier.

I just wrote one in CT that one of our carriers for $400,000 RC was $100 less than the next best rate which was based on $110,000 ACV for the same property.The second item that was confusing is what the payout will be.

If I'm complicit in a meth lab and a tree falls on my house, I might have some legal challenges, but the insurance would pay the claim.Because there's a gray area, and because there's a lot of flux, each carrier is handling this issue differently.

Your insurance company will then sue the driver to try and recoup the claim payout.Best to put your carrier on notice, if you haven't already.
