In Massachusetts, towns are passing energy codes that increase the cost of housing.

In my area it is common for landlords to pay for heat which promotes a lot of abuse with the system in that tenants keep the heat at unreasonably high temperatures and often open the windows in the dead of winter when it can be -20 out.

There is verbiage in Section 11.131 of the Texas Property Tax code that states that exemptions only apply to residence homestead, defined as the portion of the property that is occupied as a primary home.

What happens in situations like this is they start by going after the promoter and then go after every customer of the promoter.

As mentioned above check your local laws regarding STR, occupancy, building code etc.If good on the above, then figure out your cost.
