Hey BP,I'm looking to buy a home with a free standing detached mother-in-law apt.

My mother was a moderator for another forum and it really kept her busy.

With people still coming back, (parents that stay in the city they left Katrina for while their children finished high school... people like my mother) i can say that with the distressed home and steadily rising market I see positive growth potential.I am flat broke... but I have been helping my grandparents and living with them during my college years... so i am not this lazy kid who wants to make it over night.

Personally I think its just an excuse for him to stay out of my mothers way for a few hours a day. :) But my Dad would always drag me along as a kid and so I learned quite a bit about home repair and upkeep.

Odor is completely gone and we just rented it to a single non-smoking mother who couldn't even tell a smoker had lived there.Good luck

I come from a mother who practices as a CA Realtor as well as a father who is a General Contractor.

Looking for motivated sellers (tired and want to move) yields some too.Have one right now, mother passed and son doesn't want it.

The mobile was still in the name of the mother of the guy who lost the property to the bank (4 degrees of separation; mom, son, bank, guy) and by the way, the mother was deceased (seemingly impossible situation).Anyway, long story short, the WA State DOT accepted this 1 page form from me and the guy and I now have the title, have moved the home to another property (and have it rented for $1,100/month by the way)!
