If you were to buy a house comparable to what you are renting, it would eat up that $1000/month you are currently saving.I would count your lucky stars for the cheap rent (my brother pays that much for a 1bed/1bath apartment in Long Beach) and use the savings to invest in another market.

I just got signed up with Rent Redi and would like to import the previous  monthly rental payments into rent redi to have it correctly dispalying the lease terms with rent owed.

Also, no counties in Texas prohibit long term rentals.

I’ll be selling (co-owned with now ex-husband) my long time multi family (house hack) in a few weeks and will be receiving a pretty size-able profit from it.

I would only recommend moving on this if you are comfortable owning it for the long term.

However, very glad that we pivoted to mid-term rental approach around $4,500 to $5,000 that has helped address vacancy.
