My financial goal is to be making enough investment income within five years so that I can at least step down from my managerial position with my companyI admit a lot of this process is very daunting to someone who's never purchased a house even once in his life, but I feel confident, with the support this community gives, I can find the courage to take the plunge past the plague of inaction that grips so many.

If you leave your broker then your license transfers to inactive status and you can no longer practice real estate.

You also cannot invest in active RE businesses (flipping, wholesaling, property management) with your retirement money, or you will incur a very steep trust tax within your account.

Here in Toledo (one hour's drive south of Detroit) we have been seeing a definite uptick in activity and competition for foreclosed properties...Personaly, I've been doing some hard-shopping to flesh out the portfolio snagging 4 houses in as many weeks before the market changes.
