we are on target with rents compared to the buildings next to us..we have a wait list now because we seem to have many student and alot of them are from India.. they like to stay together in a community..

I have rented to folks from Taiwan who did not speak english,  I had one tenant who appeared to be from India who I did not understand, and on several ocasions rented to someone who spoke spanish but I was unable to understand them in English.

If they were new to the country, I had them go get a bank account (techies from China, India or international students, for instance).

All but one of these is usually visible and apparent on your first meeting, i.e. a landlord could assume an applicant wearing a hijab is of the Muslim faith, or someone of darker skin tone is of ethnic descent, or a person who walks with a cane or is wheelchair-bound has a disability, or a person who speaks Spanish fluently (or conversely doesn't speak English well) is of Hispanic or Latin or non-American descent, or a woman is, well, a woman.

I believe housing laws are different than the laws that govern the access given to the public of private establishments (grocery stores, malls, etc...).Think of it this way - could you (or would you) tell a Jewish or Muslim person they can't worship in the apartment they rent from you?

Do you have any friends or family, that given a choice, wouldn't rent to a gay or transgender person, an unmarried couple, a single mother, a Muslim, a person with disability requiring a service animal, a person with only SSDI income?
