Sometimes, they can pull a piece of carpet from another area (eg closet) and patch it, but it can be hard to get an exact match as the colour will fade differently depending on where the carpet is.

If they remove the filter upon move-out, either you or them need to patch that hole before the next tenant moves in.

@Corbin Hibler my last sewer line replacement was $5,000.Go out in the street and see if there has been any road repair work done like a patch of some sort.

The benefit is it can be sculpted to match the profile of difficult to find trim and can fix rotten patches of wood siding (up to a few inches in diameter) without pulling anything off the house.

The repair guy is suggesting to replace the flooring of the bathtub because patches would crack in a week or two.
