Please poke holes in this.

There is a significant hole in my local market that is not being met.

I am a landlord in MA and recently had tenants move out and cause damages to my property (soot all over the walls + holes which required extensive cleaning, patching and re-painting).I did have a security deposit, but unfortunately, I was not aware of the very specific security deposit laws in MA. 

I'd say it was money well spent saving yourself from falling into a black hole.

It needed about 80k in repairs due to fire damage which  probably explained the holes in the floor in the description of the property.

I am not sure why my situation ran into such a rabbit hole, but I found the answer.  21st Mortgage (for some states) will cut you a check for the sales tax that you pay to the Department of Revenue. 

@Wayne Brooks I did not understand the technical details of what he says the problem is, so I won't try to say things that are probably wrong :) He said there's a hole in the line, but that he still isn't able to see everything and it could still be much worse.I completely understand that this can happen.

Looking to see if anyone has done this before, and/or if these numbers look worth it:I have a long-term goal of owning a "snowbird" home in Jackson Hole, WY, but prices there are astronomical. 

I'm an IT guy and programmer, once needed some guy to patch a hole in the ceiling from a bathtub leak, a handyman/contractor told me his minimum job is $300/day, so just a hole in the ceiling is not worth it for him.
