Hi @Paul Rook, I don't have any experience with the company you mentioned but a handy resource for homeowners to check ANY contractor or trades person is lni.wa.gov.

I think the confidence to take action in a smart way is built on all of these things.

If you clear your head to the idea that it is possible to lose money, but that there are ways to mitigate the possible downsides, you will be much more likely to take action. 

If anything else, being a side hustle investor helped me be a better agent, not vice versa.All that said - start with your short, medium, and long-term goals, map it out and then take action based on that!
