Adding milestone check points with office work should keep you in total control of task success the same way you would with building contractors before payment.  

My next milestone is to establish a business plan using the Guide.Being an engineer, I over analyze and my main concern is that I'm going to wind up in analysis paralysis and never progress.

We're just now crossing a milestone of running four projects at once and figure we'll be stretched a bit, so I'm looking at bringing on a structural engineer/ designer for a project that we'll be doing additions to.

In any case, any offer to lease or purchase the property made to the landowner should be tied to milestones that you lay out in the form of a short critical path which is used to define the amount of time you need to obtain project entitlements and get to a shovel ready state and hence the Closing Date. 4.
