I used to be a supervisor at my college's tech crew.

I spoke with a supervisor at the housing authority and she advised the same actions.

Do I have an accurate depiction of the workplace environment?

The rental application asks for supervisor info for employment, and in a standard civilian situation I'd just call the employer.  

In doing research, I found many folks say that it is hard to get into the business because you have to have a supervisor appraiser sign off on your experience log before you can become a fully fledged appraiser.  

The Board of Supervisors constantly change the landscape and the Rental Ordinance is always evolving.

I've had one project that there were 10 individuals working on 1 project, including all maintenance supervisor, the mayor, city engineer, public works director, etc on a 23k painting project (the mayor happened to live in one of community walls we were painting it). hot potato. finished it in 2 weeks instead of 4. lol.

I see positive things going on, but I also still find bullets in the parking lot and drag racing goes on in front of my workplace every night.
