Compare Detroit to LA, from 1960 to present, Detroit has had steady decline while LA has steady growth, so now there is no comparison between the two.Pittsburgh lost 50% of its population, more on a percentage basis than Detroit, and Pittsburgh lost more absolute number of people than New Orleans did after Katrina.There are changes in many areas, some changes going up, some changes going down. 

We have more than 45K vacant properties in New Orleans proper alone.
