I donot know anything about Cape coral except there are crocodiles and tornados and its humid.

If no one is occupying the unit and you are in the cold winter months... unplug all appliances including the fridge (they love nesting near the warm compressor motor, and the dishwasher also provides a warm humid environment), open all cabinets and appliance doors. 

And I probably won't know if they put latex on the oil they unless it gets super humid again.  

Why you really want to do is look for humidity.

This might be common in Houston since you guys have salt water so close and I'm sure its humid there.

Temps, humidity, noise, light, the list goes on.

It can be remotely controlled, it will send you alerts if temp or humidity is beyond ranges you set.

The first time, I got an alert on the app that the humidity was over 70%.

Water or even high humidity warps them, they scratch easily so tenants who are careless or have pets ruin them quickly.
