While I've been signed up to BP for a long time, I haven't spent the time to update my profile, interact, etc...

Some were better than others, but they all had elements of it that I didn't agree with, or lacked that I thought was important.

I don't know how you can avoid an HOA since there are commonly owned elements outside of the structure.

Start by getting educated, learn the real estate terminology, and interact on the forums.
