Stains, cracks, holes and tape joints can all be fixed easily rather than replaced.

I have to say Nathan, you live in the coolest named city in the U.S. lol, Flooring has been a thorn in the side for most, how do you feel about stained concrete?

Since we are mid-progress, still have a lot to go including: Drywall (half the house needs it), painting throughout (neutral light gray tones), kitchen put back together, recessed lights installed (all LED), floors re-sanded and stained (original red oak on 1st & 2nd floor), etc etc. 

The ugly green house is the before picture of the house with the stain cedar shutters.

We are extremely clean people, take good care of our dogs and our carpets are not stained, nor are things chewed up.

Alternatively, fine sawdust works almost as well.Once you've done as he suggests, I'd mix Dawn with very hot water and scrub out the remaining stain that's absorbed into the concrete.

The carpet must have several unique stains, because usually all it takes is a few washes with our carpet cleaner to get it done.
