When the state was in trouble before the current governor was elected there is definetly going to be a problem in the forseeable future.

There is legislation called the S.100 HOME Bill that looks like it will be making its way to the Governor's desk this session which is pretty exciting from a development standpoint. 

It's an amazing downtown location just hundreds of feet from the governor's mansion and within walking distance to the grocery store, one of a kind parks, whale watching and the ocean.

The Virginia Governor and both legislative bodies of the state government are now under the same political party and if they want to make Virginia more tenant friendly it will not take as much effort as it would of in the past.

Petersburg, one other thought...Because of the new Rules for Homeowners Insurance in Florida where the Governor signed into Law that anyone using Citizens Insurance will be required to pay for Flood Insurance, which is a Federal program.
