You can have your electrician get registered, but they have to attend a class, pass a test, etc given by the Hammond Building Dept.The other thing is that Hammond has the most "Add Ons" or "Voter Approved" projects that add to your real estate taxes of any municipality in that area.

I choose to cater to the hard working people that can pass a background check, have a financial history and credit score.

@Embert Madison jr. it all sounds good to me, much inline with the practices I use to rent my properties, but I don’ t need the government getting into my business anymore than it already is.They pass a simple law that everyone thinks is reasonable and a few years later they amend the law and a few years later the amend it again, maybe add a few more restrictions and maybe taxes etc. ect. ect.

Can you pass a standard background check?

I had a guy do a fence from 8 PM to midnight with only a couple hours notice because it was needed ASAP to pass a city inspection the next morning.

@Mark Sewell when you die and pass a property to your children, they receive the property at the stepped up basis without inheriting the depreciation.

These contractors go through some serious training and even have to pass a test.
