I would focus on getting a solid job/career then going into a house hack. 

Pittsburgh is home to many major universities including the rapidly growing Carnegie Mellon University which is “at least partially responsible for Pittsburgh’s growth, from revitalized neighborhoods to a vibrant and booming restaurant scene.”

It helps to build a good network of reliable contractors, especially if you’re investing out of state.Section 8 has been a part of my strategy, and while it’s not all rainbows, it’s been a solid way to build consistent cash flow.

However, once you have a relationship built up and solid track record with your private lenders, you should be able to also do 2nd (and even 3rd position).
