Fiberglass is the cheapest type of material that tubs are made from.I always recommend only a quality lighter weight cast iron/porcelain tub and proper ceramic tile surround with all new waste, drain, overflow, and supply piping and faucets.

@Rob Duhon,Splurge and get wood looking ceramic tile, it looks beautiful, easy to clean (for tenants and for turnover) ,tenants love it, waterproof, and as a bonus-- it's cold, so a lot of people put down rugs so it's another layer of protection!

I bullet proof my property as much as possible. 1st off, I'm renting 1000sq ft units, not much to damage, 2nd, my flooring is very durable, either vinyl, laminate or ceramic tile, 3rd I have their deposit to help offset damages.

You can supply them on the front end with ceramic tile in kitchen and baths, vinyl plank flooring in den, dining and living rooms (more durable and opens up the space), nicer faucets and fans, new counter tops, etc.

Ceramic or LVT groutable for the bathroom floor would give you a long lifetime of service.If you're speaking about rentals, I 'd go LVT just based on a maintenance aspect.
